Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private party adoptions, as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills and probate, and estate administration, as well as commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by a court since the year and assists parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the need for litigation and court involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who want to stay clear of the litigation and court process.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students of her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. The primary role she played at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who had suffered abuse or neglect at the parent or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned far beyond her legal profession as she was active as a board member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law including divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships, as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with a commitment to providing a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
